Exhibition of the Landscape, Character, Heritage and HIstory of Little Leigh

From 12pm in the Village Hall. Refreshments available.

We're looking for any old photos, documents and memories of the village. If anyone would like to recount any good anecdotes about village events or characters, then please get in touch by email, or calling Matthew on 891541.

Prizes will be awarded in the following caregories:

• Best old photograph
• Best current photograph
• Best anecdote or story - "Village Tales"
• Best funny poem/limerick - potato or village related
• Best serious poem - again, potato or village related

On a potato theme, there'll be:

• Best Dressed Potato Character - á la "Mr Potato Head"
• Best original Potato food dish or recipe.

We'l probably also have on-the-spot competitions such as "Best Caption" for some of the photos we have.

The day will also be used as an opportunity to present an update on the Landscape Character Assessment and Village Design Statement. This about getting everyone's opinion on what makes Little Leigh "Little Leigh-ish". It can be particular views, buildings, geographical features, industry, infrastructure. Although it may seem unecessary to spend time describing and defining everything that is around us - after all, it's just there and that's how it is, isn't it? - it is increasingly important to be able to provide such an explanation to, for example, planners and the government.
